All the stuff for five days of fun on the Petawawa River in Algonquin park. Our trip is going from the Upper Petawawa rapids to to the take out at McManus lake using rafts as opposed to canoes. This is a training exercise that is part of the 2 year Algonquin College Outdoor Adventure program. My self and Scott MacGregor of Rapid Media are invited along on the trip, Scott has a raft mde by AIRE that we will be using and he is planning on doing an in-depth review of the boat in an up coming issue of Rapid. The rafts can carry a pile of gear and while not as fast as a canoe they can pound down through heavy whitewater with not much chance of flipping, they also eliminate most if not all need to portage. Looking forward to some fun as the water level on the river is quite high. Dry suit, warm gear for shore and tons of tasty snacks. My Nikon D700 and lenses will cruise down safely yet again in my trusty Pelican case, love to know the kilometers this dry box has on it. I also have thrown in my flyrod and spinning rod plus an assortment of lures that I am hoping will get fish to bite. Putin here we come!
