A late November wander around the seaside town and port of Whitby, located along the the Yorkshire coast at the mouth of the River Esk. The ruins of the Whitby Abby overlook the town from the east cliffs, we hiked up to the top to enjoy the views right around the time a heavy storm blew ashore. There was a fantastic rainbow that appeared to enhance the experience. We enjoyed poking around the cobble roads and narrow windy streets, a quick snack at a small pub called Shelocks, and we ducked out of the rain at the local micro brewery for a cold pint. The beautiful skies, rainbows and weather only enhanced our experience on our first trip to Whitby.
As a photographer this is a fantastic place to make images. So many incredible views, amazing architecture, seaport, and street photography opportunities. The town is teeming with history and character. This visit was quick one but looking forward to a return to capture so much more that I did not have time to explore.
