Hiking at Steel Rigg, Hadrian’s Wall, England

On our way to Glasgow we made a slight detour to take a short hike at Hadrian’s Wall. We stopped at the Steel Rigg section for a walk and it also enabled us to see the Sycamore Gap. Until recently Sycamore Gap was famous for the large Sycamore tree that was hundreds of years old and grew down in the low section of the ridge. Unfortunately it was cut down by some criminals, we checked out the remaining stump that it is hopeful may once again grow. Such a shame to have lost such an amazing icon of the area. The light dusting of snow made for a moody walk and added to the atmosphere.
