Warm and slushy on the River

The temperature was up today in Ottawa, +13C, and the spring melt has begun. I dropped by Britannia early this evening and post-holed my way out onto the river. Ice cold slush almost up to the knees in places when you sunk into the surface. The big plus was the wind was solid and the warm sun felt great on the face. A few of the wind addicted crowd were out enjoying what could be the end of kiting on the snow for this season.

There were lots of wet feet, wet gloves and plenty of soaked ski pants as the kite crew flew over the melting river surface and large puddles. Any wipe out at all saw the victim become a large sponge for the icy water. I stayed until the sun dropped over the horizon, nice sunset.
